English Raiders to Attack St. Augustine

On Saturday, June 2, English pirates will once more rampage through the streets of old St. Augustine in an authentic re-creation of Drake’s Raid of 1586. Conducted by the Historic Florida Militia, the re-enactment provides an up-close look at what it was like for St. Augustine’s residents to defend their city against the infamous Sir Francis Drake.

On June 7, 1586, Drake’s 23 ships and 2,000 Englishmen attacked the city with cannons from Anastasia Island. The next day, they stormed through the streets and burned St. Augustine to the ground.

The re-enactment will feature a 16th century encampment at the Fountain of Youth on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The encampment will include military drills and period skills demonstrations. Saturday evening at 7 p.m., the running battle will begin on Hypolita and St. George Streets with swords, pikes and black powder muskets. St. Augustine townspeople and Spanish soldiers will attempt to stop the English assault, as the battle proceeds to the north end of St. George Street at the historic city gate and redoubt where the skirmish will end. Admission is free to this authentic re-creation of the sack of St. Augustine.

The event is funded in part by a grant from the St. Johns County Tourist Development Council.

Personal Battery Caddy Slims Down for Summer

retailers across the country prepare for summer storms, wildfires and hurricane season, smart buyers are stocking their shelves with Tools Aviation's patent-pending Personal Battery Caddy , a compact, convenient battery caddy that keeps batteries close at hand in any situation. And just in time for summer, the company has expanded its original versions to include six new Slim Line styles.

Designed to be easily operated with one hand, the Slim Line Personal Battery Caddies can hold six AAA, four AA, four 9V, four C, four D or four CR123 batteries. Each battery is securely contained in its own locking sleeve to prevent lost batteries. To remove a battery, the user simply pushes the battery up from the bottom, which breaches the locking feature and allows the battery to be pushed out of the top of the holder, while keeping the other batteries securely in place--whether they are alkaline, lithium or rechargeable.

"Each Slim Line Personal Battery Caddy is easy to use and handy for anyone who depends on batteries," stated Rick Foreman, founder of Tools Aviation and inventor of the Personal Battery Caddy. "The Personal Battery Caddy is popular among pilots, photographers, campers, law enforcement, HAM radio operators, boaters, people who travel and homeowners. We expect the Slim Line models to be in high demand for their portability and ease of use."

Tools Aviation also designed the Slim Line with safety in
mind: The caddy protects batteries' terminals at both ends, preventing them from touching each other or other metals. As a result, the Personal Battery Caddy can actually help prevent battery-related fires or explosions on airplanes, in cars and at home.

Slim Line Personal Battery Caddies come in a variety of colors, including bright yellow, bright orange and glow-in-the-dark, which remains illuminated for hours after being exposed to just 30 minutes of light-a popular feature among pilots, boaters and law enforcement personnel, as it allows battery packs to be located quickly during an emergency. The caddies are constructed of a high-quality engineered plastic that has proven durable in extreme temperatures.

"Consumers have learned to be prepared for natural disasters, and this is the season when many will be stocking up on emergency supplies," said Foreman. "The Personal Battery Caddy is currently available only through PersonalBatteryCaddy.com, but we are now encouraging distributors and retailers to add both the Slim Line Personal Battery Caddy as well as our larger models to their product offerings and help more consumers be better prepared for any situation, from camping trips to hurricanes."

Summer Gas Prices on the Rise

Gas prices have risen to record levels in the past few months. Bill McClure, CEO of FuelMeUp.com, predicts gas prices in certain markets could rise to over $4.00 per gallon in the next few weeks. "I see nothing in sight to slow down the increases in gas pricing," McClure stated.

"We are seeing prices today vary from $3.89 in San Francisco, California to $2.99 per gallon in Miami, Florida," he added.

Many factors could drive prices even higher. The uncertainty in the Persian Gulf, refinery capacity problems, the approaching hurricane season, lower gasoline inventory and high consumer demand will all affect summer gas prices.

Many FuelMeUp.com consumers are planning ahead by locating the cheapest price of gasoline along their route.

McClure said, "Prices can vary as much as $.80 per gallon.
By using our website, consumers can save over $10.00 every time they fill their tanks."

With Memorial Day approaching, many consumers are planning to stay close to home visiting lakes and state parks.

FuelMeUp.com is a consumer-driven site to help visitors find the lowest-priced gasoline in their city or zip code. The site tracks gasoline prices in thousands of stations nationwide and updates prices three times a day.

"It appears even with the record-high price of gasoline, consumers still want to drive and nothing is slowing them down," McClure stated.Click here for cheap flights
