Valencia Spain
Valencia is coming of age, with the America Cup last year and the Formula 1 Grand Prix this year, the time to go to Valencia and check it all out is now.
Valencia also happens to be the birthplace of something else that most people can appreciate-paella. Some of the best paella in the world lives right here in this community, so don’t’ forget to check out the best restaurants while you’re in the city.
Just outside the city of Valencia nestled between El Saler and El Perello, quite close to Lake L’Albufera is a small village called El Palmar. It is this village which grows the rice for the local paella and it is also one of the best places in the world to go for paella. Even those who are native to Valencia go there to eat. It does tend to be a bit on the expensive side, but well worth it.
Another tempting taste you may want to try on your visit to Valencia will be Horchata. While available all through Spain, the bottled or canned variety is nothing at all to compare to the home made type. Many of the local bars will show a sight saying that they “Hay Horchata” and most of them make it themselves. It is well worth trying and is suitable for those with allergies to nuts or vegetarians.
While Spain may be famous for bull fighting, in all honesty there is not a broad tradition of bullfighting in Valencia. Still it is Spain and since bullfighting has been in the news so much of late, it seems the obvious thing for a tourist to do. Next to the train station in Valencia, particularly in July, you will see an active bull ring where you can view a bull fight in person. You can book your tickets to the bullfights online, go to the ring or by telephone from your Valencia hotel .
Hotels in Valencia, as with any other city, are subject to change depending on the season, however your costs will not be overly exorbitant at any time. Valencia hotels and restaurants are quite reasonable when viewed in comparison to other cities of this size.
