Washington DC

The streets of Washington DC virtually explode with sights and scents, not the least of them colorful flowers, greenery and trees during the warm months of summer, and the city, for all the influx of people on a daily basis remains a lovely tree lined city
One cannot of course visit the capital of the United States and not view the White House and other sites such as the Houses and the center of government in the United States, but a visit to Washington DC should encompass more than just those things.
Washington is one of the best cities in the world to find free things to do, and Washington DC hotels are remarkable places to help you to find those things. Some of the hotels in Washington DC have a small area inside the hotel where brochures are available to help you to select interesting things to do which are free of charge.
One of those places is The U.S. National Arboretum. The US National Arboretum is nearly 500 acres of much more than just flowers. The Dogwood collection, the National Bonsai museum and the Aquatic Gardens are all part of what you will see when you view this remarkable tribute to the plant life of the US.
Harvard University maintains a research institute here that features beds of peonies, magnolias, lilies, an old Roman style open air amphitheater as well as an ancient French fountain, nestled on ten acres of grounds that are lovingly landscaped each year.
The U.S. Botanic Garden features constantly changing dynamic National Gardens which include the butterfly gardens and the water gardens known as The First Ladies' Water Gardens. Admissions to all of these things is free of charge.
Also among the things to see and do in Washington DC will be the outdoor markets which offer something that will appeal to anyone who pays a visit to the city, as well as the always popular Art Market, which will supply you with all you need to take home as souvenir material from knitwork to flowers to woodworking, as well as hand thrown pottery.
By the way, while you’re in Washington, among all the wonderful places to eat, Washington hotels and restaurants, the shops and the crafts and the flowers, do make some time to see the White House.
